Methamphetamine or more commonly known as meth is a highly addictive stimulant. Methamphetamine's effects on the central nervous system are very strong, causing meth users to act extremely unpredictable. Methamphetamine is made in illegal laboratories using common household products or substitutes. Meth can be taken orally, intranasal (snorting/sniffing), intravenous injection, and smoked. Users become addicted very quickly, and use with increasing frequency. Meth appears to have a neuro-toxic effect on the brain, damaging the brain cells containing dopamine and serotonin, other neurotransmitters. The damaging affect of meth may cause symptoms like those seen in Parkinson's disease.
